Children’s Dentistry

At Dental on Beams, one of our great passions is helping children establish a positive relationship with their teeth. Many dental issues that occur later in life, such as gum disease and tooth decay, can be easily avoided if good habits are established early. That’s why it’s so important that your child is introduced to our friendly dentists from a young age.

Start your child’s dental journey on a positive note, make an appointment with the friendly team at Dental on Beams today by calling 3862 8300 or booking online (available 24/7).

Creating a positive experience for your child at the dentist

Many of us feel nervous or anxious before visiting the dentist, and we put off appointments for as long as we can, often to the detriment of our dental health. This is why we strive to make your child’s first trips to the dentist fun and positive, so they don’t grow up fearing the dental chair.

One of the best ways to achieve this is to bring your child in early, before any issues with their teeth or gums arise. The Australian Dental Association (ADA) recommends that your child begin seeing a dentist when their first baby tooth appears, or when they turn one, whichever comes first.

A routine dental check-up is a great way to introduce a child to their dentist and allows us to address the basics on their first visit. During these initial appointments, we build a relationship with the child and familiarise them with dentistry in a fun, playful manner.

They can even use the controls and take a ride in the chair. We also have a special treasure chest where children can pick a present at the end of their appointment. Our goal is to help them feel comfortable and relaxed in the chair and to build a friendly relationship with their dentist and dental assistant.

Medicare Child Dental Benefits Scheme

Under the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Scheme (CDBS), certain children between the ages of two and 17 are entitled to $1,158 in free dental benefits over two calendar years. At Dental on Beams, we bulk-bill eligible patients, so there are no out-of-pocket expenses up to the $1,158 limit.

Children’s Dental Emergencies

Kids will be kids. Sometimes accidents happen, and a tooth can get chipped or even knocked out. Fortunately, there’s no reason to panic. We have a step-by-step guide on what to do if a tooth is knocked out, and we also offer emergency dental treatment both on weekdays and weekends. We are always available to address any dental emergencies your child may have.
